Have you ever gone to a website where you wanted to look for more information and the website asked you to register by providing your email address? Have you ever wanted to subscribe to forums or newsletters but you were afraid to do so because you needed to fill in your email address? To avoid getting spam emails and being able to register, you can use a disposable email address.

There are some websites providing disposable email addresses. The easiest way to get one is through the Firefox Add-on TrashMail.net and the created email addresses can be deleted at any time!

After you download and install it, just right-click an email text field in Firefox. A menu will appear with the option to paste a disposable email address. See this picture for an example:

After you select the option “Paste disposable address”, you will be asked to provide some information for the disposable address:

After you fill in this dialog and click the Create email button, your new disposable email address is ready for you to use.

Analyzing Your FeedBurner Feeds by Feed Analysis

Most bloggers run their RSS feeds through FeedBurner. However, the statistics provided by FeedBurner is not detailed and clear enough.

With the help of Feed Analysis, you can see

  • the number of subscribers for each month on a column chart
  • the number of subscribers, hits, views and clicks for a single day on a line chart
  • the average percentage of total subscribers on each weekday and the best/worst day of the week on a pie chart

Feed Analysis can also give you an estimated value for your blog or site according to the number of your subscribers.

To use Feed Analysis to get all the charts and details mentioned above is easy, simply go to Feed Analysis and provide your Feed URI.

You also need to activate the Awareness API which is not activated by default. The Awareness API allows developers to build applications that can display, analyze and promote your feed’s traffic data outside of FeedBurner. To activate it, do the followings:

  1. Sign in to your FeedBurner account.
  2. Click the feed title that you are interested.
  3. Click the Publicize tab.
  4. Click Awareness API on the SERVICES menu that appears on the left side of the page.
  5. Click the Activate button.

You can deactivate it after Feed Analysis generates the statistics for you. You should see the page as follow when you activate Awareness API:
